HILR - Land Pollution Lesson
Land Pollution
What is land pollution and how do human activities impact it?
So What is Land Pollution?
Land pollution is the destruction of the Earth’s surfaces as a result of human activity and the misuse of land resources. Pollution can occur when waste is not disposed of correctly, the land is not used correctly, or we deplete resources which lead to the destruction of the earth’s surface.
Solutions for Land Pollution
The three R’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is a great way to start when dealing with land pollution.
Reduce
To curb the land pollution limit or stop using non-biodegradable products.
Example- carry and use reusable shopping bags instead of plastic.
Reuse
Avoid throwing out things that can be reused. Why buy new when you can reuse existing things.
Example: Can you use a cardboard box for a poster for a school project? Or take out food containers as storage in your kitchen?
Recycle
Recycling is one of the best things to combat land pollution. Not only does it decrease the about of nonbiodegradable material thrown out each year, but it saves space in landfills. It also helps lessen air and water pollution as well.
Example: Recycled glass can be made into fiberglass which has many uses.
