Technique Experimentation Tutorials
It is now time to watch the Technique Experimentation Tutorials video. Take notes as you watch the video and reach out to your instructor with any questions.
This video demonstrates 5 different exercises for Technique Experimentation.
- Exercise 1 shows a texture rubbing using thin paper laid over various different textures and rubbing the paper with graphite, crayon, or other drawing material.
- Exercise 2 demonstrates watercolor washes beginning with water and adding various amounts of watercolor paint in various colors.
- Exercise 3 shows how to create a blind self-portrait. Students are asked to close their eyes and draw a self-portrait based on feel. The goal is to synchronize the left and right hands.
- Exercise 4 demonstrates how to create a contour drawing with multiple lines and multiple colors.
- Exercise 5 demonstrates how to create some color with Sharpie markers and Rubbing Alcohol. After coloring some Sharpie on a surface, adding alcohol breaks up the marker ink creating a watercolor effect.
