Demo of Line Design
It is now time to watch the Demo of Line Design video. Take notes as you watch the video and reach out to your instructor with any questions.
Here is a short explanation of the above video:
This is an example of the line and movement method. After making the original wavy line spine and branches, generally follow the curve of the starting line. You will make your lines close to parallel. Notice that the lines start and stop with a curve. This really helps to create the illusion of waves as the sections fills with wavy lines. By the time the section is filled with lines, it will look like it is waving up and down on the page. Once you fill one section, you can change directions in a different section. You may want to start with a wavier line. Continue filling the space until all of the sections are full.
Extension
Artistic Research
You can increase your designs to include a different set of Elements and Principles per sections.
For instance, if you divide your design into 5 sections. One section can show Line and Movement. Another can show Value, Form, and Proportion. A third section can show Texture and Pattern. A fourth one can show Shape and Balance. And a fifth one can show Color, Shape, and Variety.
These are just examples. You can follow this example or develop your own plan using the same criteria.
