WCR - Formal Staged Readings (Lesson)
Formal Staged Readings
Introduction
The purpose of the staged reading is to receive feedback from a live audience about the script. Typically the format for the Post-Performance feedback will follow the Critical Response Method. The process for presenting a formal staged reading of a full-length play and a screenplay is very similar to that used for the Ten-Minute play that we employed in an earlier module. This microlesson will review the key elements of that process and add suggested changes that affect the reading for a screenplay.
Formal Staged Readings for Theatrical Scripts
Once your theatrical script is complete, the next stage is to produce a rehearsed staged reading of the entire screenplay. You will be filming the staged reading and submitting it for instructor feedback.
Review the key elements of the process of preparing a staged reading for a theatrical script. While you learned most of this material in an earlier module, please note that there are a few changes, specifically for the screenplay process in this modified presentation.
Below the video, you will find a notes document including a script of the presentation.
