WSP - Critical Response and Revisions (Lesson)
Critical Response and Revisions
Introduction
"Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots." Frank A. Clark
Receiving effective feedback is an essential step in the writing and revision process. Unfortunately, not all responses to presented work are framed in a supportive manner that is useful to the writer. Many untrained students will respond to work simply by saying whether they liked it or not - this is not useful feedback. There are several critical response methods that can be used to avoid ineffective or discouraging responses in the feedback process. The Critical Response Process developed by Liz Lerman is known for helping to provide feedback on developing work.
