MRC - The Mole (Lesson)

The Mole

Introduction

This lesson we will begin very important foundational concepts that will follow you throughout the remainder of the course. We will learn about the mole and Avogadro’s Number, which are often used in conversion factors in chemistry. It is more important than ever to recognize patterns in the problems solved in this lesson rather than memorizing steps.

The Mole and Abogadro's Number

This segment of Chemistry Matters examines the mole and Avogadro's number. The students also continue their exploration of dimensional analysis.

Moles and Particles

Let’s take a closer look at the process for calculations involved in converting between moles and particles. View the following 4 minute video, and then complete the practice problems.

Practice converting between moles and particles. Don’t forget to use this graphic organizer to help you complete each calculation. On graded work, it is very important that you show all of the steps of your work.
