IC - Metrics and Measurement (Lesson)
Metrics and Measurement
As you can imagine, many investigations in chemistry involve quantitative data. Scientists have adopted the International System of Measurements in order to streamline data reporting and communication of results. This lesson discusses the process of metric conversions and introduces the method of dimensional analysis which is the preferred technique for converting units in chemistry.
Metric Conversions
Let’s take a closer look at a simplified process for converting metric measurements.
Dimensional Analysis Practice
While the video in the previous section presents an appropriate method for completing metric conversions, the preferred method for unit conversions in chemistry involves a process called dimensional analysis. Now is a good time to become comfortable with this process so that you will be prepared for more challenging unit conversions in later lessons.
