DTBP - Digital Technology and Business Productivity Overview
Digital Technology and Business Productivity Overview
Introduction
Digital technology refers to any computer-based products and solutions and affects all aspects of business operations, regardless of business size, and thus has a huge impact on the business productivity.
Can you imagine what would happen to businesses around the world if all computers suddenly crashed? Well, we almost found out on January 1, 2000!
The Year 2000 (Y2K) scare happened because of the way in which some early computer programs were coded. They were made to handle only years containing 2 digits (for example 92 instead of 1992), and people started fearing that date-related processing would happen incorrectly for dates and times after December 31, 1999. Would computers think it was 2000 or 00, the end of times? The Y2K caused widespread concerns that computers would stop working and most industries and government functions would come to a screeching halt at midnight, January 1, 2000.
While no massive computer failures occurred when the year changed to 2000, Y2K had a significant effect on the computer industry and highlighted the importance of digital technology to business operations around the world.
In this module, you will learn about different types of digital technology tools and applications and how they relate to business operations. You will also learn how to use digital technology for conducting business effectively and efficiently.
