Creating a Database and Tables Overview

How would you manage information about your customers and clients, so you can quickly search that information and locate important records? So far, you have learned that word processing software helps businesses with creating important documents and spreadsheet software aids with storing and analyzing data.

Database software, such as Microsoft Access, allows businesses to store and organize information, such as product inventory, contact information, and other important data about employees and customers. Database management is tracking and organizing data, a very important part of running a successful business or organization.

For example, have you ever lost an important document, because you did not file it correctly? Imagine a huge number of records every business is dealing with every day! If data is not organized properly, using database software, important information will be lost, thus negatively impacting business operations.

You can create databases using specialized software such as Access. However, Excel possesses formidable database powers, too!

In this module, you will learn how to create and manage a database in a business environment as well as how to build tables.
