GAP -Animation Tools Lesson
Animation Tools
Introduction
Animating text, images, and including animated videos can bring a message to life. This lesson will provide you with information on animation tools and options.
Adding Pizzazz with Animation Options
PowerPoint provides users with four categories of animation options that can be applied to enhance presentations.
Animation Programs
There are several animation programs available that will allow users to create animated videos to include audio and music. Trial versions, free options with limited features, and pricing plans are available. Popular examples include Adobe Spark, PowToon, GoAnimate, and Prezi. These programs require registration which can result in personal information being shared with a third-party. As a student, it is not recommended that you register for accounts unless it has been determined by a school official that your personal information will not be compromised. Some schools purchase programs that can be accessed by students.
It is also possible to create animated videos using programs available as part of your operating system. Windows users can access Movie Maker and Mac Users can create movies using iMovie.
As you enter the workforce, determine if your organization has purchased a plan for employees to access.

Takeaway
Animations can add pizzazz to presentations. When applying animations consider the 80/20 Rule. Review your presentation to determine the 20% that is most important. Once you have done so, apply animation to those objects. When adding timing effects, consider using a fast animation option so that you keep the audience engaged. Finally, use the same animation throughout the presentation. Adding multiple options takes away from the professional appeal of the presentation.
