Just Buy It

So, you want to make a commercial, now what? Well, before you start you should do some market research to determine your target audience for the product. This is important because you want to make sure your commercial draws into the target audience’s interests, but also you will want to make sure the commercial airs during a time that the target audience would be viewing.

It is important that you develop a commercial script that has a beginning, middle, and end. It is common to use a 2 column script format like the one below that includes a description of visuals, and description of audio (narration) and special effects.

Once the script is complete, you will need to create a storyboard for your commercial. There are different versions of storyboards, but below is an example:

Of course, then you will finalize your script, and begin shooting your commercial. After filming, you will then edit and publish. It is best to test your commercial with a focus group to ensure that the commercial is effective.
