BCSA - Basic Composition and Score Analysis Overview
Basic Composition and Score Analysis
Introduction to Basic Composition and Score Analysis
In this module, we will read a vocal, orchestral, and band score. We will visually and aurally identify form and genre using a score and listening to musical pieces. You will compose within specified guidelines (trio; quartet) and chord progressions, etc., and transpose and arrange for specified instruments and vocal groups. Finally, we will provide a score analysis (score identification or instruments/vocals; Roman Numerals, cadences).
Module Key Terms
- Interval: An interval is simply the distance between two pitches either horizontally or vertically. When we have two pitches played simultaneously, we call them a ‘chord’.
