Major Key Signatures and Circle of Fifths Microlesson

Introduction

A key signature is the “graph” that displays which pitches are raised or lowered within a musical section and work. The key signature prevents the music from having many pitches with sharps, natural signs, or flats next to the pitches. In essence, the key signature made writing music a bit easier and faster. Musicians learned to raise or lower the pitches that were identified in the key signature.
