Introduction

Complexity.png

As with drama, complexity of character, ambiguity, and irony are the foundation for understanding novels. In the previous module, you have also learned how to use a template for a thesis statement on open ended essay that will help you to address conflicting traits. In this microlesson, you will now review how to put these ideas together into a coherent literary analysis of a prose passage.

Written Responses to Novel Selections

In this video presentation, we will revisit the template that you learned about previously and see how it applies to writing about novels. Make sure that your volume is turned up.

Final Thoughts

In this microlesson, you have concluded the module. You have applied the central concepts of irony, and complexity to novels in the same way that you have already done so with poetry and drama. Also, you have covered literature from what most students consider the difficult times periods. Most importantly, you have practiced each type of potential essay that will occur on the AP English Literature exam.
